IRVINE, CA – July 19, 2010: American automaker Fisker Automotive today finalized its purchase of a former GM factory where it will build plug-in hybrid electric vehicles.

The southern California-based company is now in full possession of the 3.2 million square foot Wilmington Assembly plant in Wilmington, Delaware, for which it paid Motors Liquidation Company (MLC) $20 million. MLC is the holding company formed by General Motors Corporation’s bankruptcy.

The purchase is supported by a $528.7 million Department of Energy loan for the development of two lines of plug-in hybrids.

The Wilmington plant will be home to Project NINA, Fisker’s second line of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, and where Fisker expects to ultimately create more than 2,000 factory jobs.“This is a major step toward creating thousands of manufacturing jobs and restoring America as a leader in the global auto industry,” said Bernhard Koehler, COO, Fisker Automotive.“Wilmington will be instrumental in fulfilling our plans to export more than half of Fisker premium plug-in hybrid production to global markets.”

Fisker announced its intent to acquire the idled factory in October 2009. A federal bankruptcy judge approved the sale last month.

The Wilmington Assembly plant opened in 1947 and produced more than 8.5 million vehicles before closing in mid 2009.

IRVINE, CA July 1, 2010 – Fisker Automotive, the American manufacturer of elegantly designed, premium plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, and Southern California-based global branding experts Lambesis, announced today the launch of Fisker’s international “Pure Driving Passion” campaign for the acclaimed Fisker Karma. The fully-integrated campaign debuts today with the launch of FiskerAutomotive.com.  The site will inform customers about PHEV technology and is the precursor to the Fisker Karma launch scheduled for the end of this year.

The “Pure Driving Passion” campaign was born from the compelling Fisker design philosophy that the auto industry can only be elevated by refusing to compromise.  Fisker Automotive’s unyielding pursuit of pure design led the company to design one of the most sustainable and accountable vehicles in automotive history. The all-new campaign was created to reflect these impassioned principles.

The campaign celebrates how the Karma redefines automotive marketing through the seamless blend of eco-minded luxury, exhilarating performance, the sensuality of superior comforts and unparalleled sustainability.

A major campaign objective was to educate the public on how eco-consciousness is sexy.  To graphically communicate the sensuality of the Fisker Karma’s sustainable designs, world-renowned photographer Miles Aldridge captured beautiful images that express the brand’s captivating, sexy essence. The provocative campaign imagery reflects how Fisker Automotive is dramatically changing the industry with an unrestrained passion for pure design.

The striking photography is complemented by the breathtaking live action film, “Melting Ice,” shot by Academy Award-nominated cinematographer of Inception, The Dark Knight and The Italian Job, Wally Pfister. The thrilling vignette showcases the sensuality and exhilaration of introducing the world to a pure driving experience with no inhibitions.

The global launch of FiskerAutomotive.com kicks off the campaign and is the first of many exciting things to come for the burgeoning brand.

For developing the campaign and brand identity, Fisker sought the help of Lambesis based on the agency’s full-service, integrated approach to building brands and its more than two decades of success creating iconic brand experiences that have consistently delivered dramatic increases to brand value and sales across its portfolio. The site Lambesis created presents users an immersive and emotional experience with dynamic content that provides a powerful introduction to the Fisker Karma.

The site’s social media channels will also actively engage key pillars of the brand with ongoing public conversation in the digital space.

American carmaker Fisker Automotive has received a coveted Stevie Award for business innovation from The 2010 American Business Awards program.  The award was presented last night during ceremonies at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City.

A distinguished panel of judges selected Fisker Automotive (www.fiskerautomotive.com) for “Most Innovative Company of the Year – up to 100 employees” for its unique approach to addressing future transportation needs.

Since its inception in 2007, Fisker Automotive has proven itself as a force in the automotive industry by leading the premium green car segment with the 403 horsepower, 100mpg Fisker Karma.  The Karma will be world’s first premium plug-in hybrid electric vehicle when it arrives in showrooms early next year.

The company expects to fulfill testing requirements, begin production and make initial customer deliveries before the [...]]]> IRVINE, CA – May 28, 2010: Fisker Automotive today closed on an additional $35 million of private equity to conclude a $189M round of funding that enables the American car company to launch its Karma premium plug-in hybrid electric vehicle.

The company expects to fulfill testing requirements, begin production and make initial customer deliveries before the end of the year. Full production will ramp up in first quarter 2011.

The close — inclusive of $115 million Fisker Automotive announced it had secured access to in January — comes ahead of schedule to meet funding commitments associated with a $528.7 million U.S. Department of Energy loan that will support the development of two lines of plug-in hybrids.

Since being established in August 2007 Fisker Automotive has raised more than $300 million in private equity.

Designed and engineered in California, the Karma, a stylish plug-in hybrid sedan, will be sold in global markets. A demonstration model is currently touring the company’s 45 U.S. retail locations.

Development of the Karma enables Fisker Automotive to create a second, lower-priced line of plug-in hybrids, currently code-named Project NINA, that will be built in a former GM assembly plant in Wilmington Delaware.

Fisker Treviso in Treviso, Italy opened its doors on May 7th with a silver pre-production Karma sedan on display. While Fisker is building enthusiasm and taking more deposits for the North American market with its retail tour, it’s clear Fisker also has ambitions to build a strong presence in Europe as well.
