Funky Wiring Harness
Under the hood on the driver's side is a big wiring harness that to me looks pretty iffy:
![]() ![]() That's a lot of exposed thin wires right next to the engine block. Does this worry anyone else? Even my girlfriend who knows nothing about cars gasped when she saw that the other day. -Brian |

RE: Funky Wiring Harness
I checked it out in my car and it doesn't bother me.
The wiring harness is about 12 inches from the engine block. It is on the intake side of the engine, not on the exhaust/turbo side. There is plenty of air space, and nothing nearby that could abraid the wires. 2012 Fisker Karma, 2012 McLaren MP4-12C, 2013 Tesla Model S (3Q2012), 2007 MB GL450, 2008 Smart ForTwo, 1956 Ford Sunliner |

RE: Funky Wiring Harness
Nevertheless, it's going to get quite warm under there and who knows what kind of corrosive gunk will get on those wires and erode the insulation. I've never seen anything like this under the hood of any car before. It looks like something that's asking for trouble down the road.

RE: Funky Wiring Harness
Looks like one of the Factory Five kit cars I built.
They could have done a better job of making it look good, but as long as its functional I don't car.
